KAHOOTS ON "WOMEN IN COMPUTING" ON WOMEN'S DAY

To commemorate Women's Day and, as part of the Motivating initiative, the 2nd FPB students have carried out some kahoots on "Women in Computing". To guide with a gender approach, it is important that the students have female references and that the students know the work carried out by these women.

Each student has chosen a woman who has played a relevant role in the history of computing or has contributed a discovery that has changed our lives.

Subsequently, the 1st and 2nd FPB students have enjoyed playing these kahoots, while they have learned a lot about these pioneering women in their field and, in many cases, unknown to most.

They have carried out the activity with their teacher Mª Carmen.

OPEN DAY AT THE CIFP "POLITÉCNICO" OF CARTAGENA

On Friday, February 25, and as part of the "Motivating" initiative, the 1st and 2nd year Basic Vocational Training students enjoyed visiting the CIFP Polytechnic of Cartagena, on the occasion of its Open Doors Day and as part of the celebration of the 120th anniversary of said center.

In the first place, they received, in the auditorium, a talk by the center's director, Mª Rosa Laborda.

Next, three students of the Laboratory Operations cycle have guided them during their visit to the following classrooms and workshops of the Intermediate Grade cycles:

Electronics Workshop
Chemistry Laboratory
automotive workshop
Machining and maintenance workshop
Electricity workshop
In each of the workshops, some students of the cycles have been in charge of explaining the different peculiarities and some activities related to each cycle. It has been a very interactive and entertaining visit in which they have coincided with former students of the IES Sabina Mora who are currently studying at the Polytechnic, including one who studied FPB, Vasil Naydenov.

They have shown special interest in the Vehicle Electromechanics cycle and also in Telecommunications and Laboratory Operations. They have also raised all the doubts that have arisen. They have learned a lot and it has been a very motivating activity.

The visit has been made with her teacher Mª Carmen and has been organized by her.

NEW TRAINING DAY OF G'S ESPAÑA

Today, Monday, February 28, and as part of the "Motivating" initiative, we have received a visit to IES Sabina Mora from two members of the company G's España from Torre Pacheco.

On this occasion, it was Lourdes, from the Communication area, and Juan-Guido Garavaglia, the head of the IT department, who gave a training session to the 2nd year Basic Vocational Training students.

In this day they have been in charge of exposing the projects, technology, etc. to the students. with those who work in G's Spain and with whom the student who, finally, does the internship in said company will have to become familiar.

They have been told that the IT department is of vital importance in a company like G's, in all areas, such as microcomputing, systems, communications or cybersecurity. They have also been told about the great demand for computer scientists that there is today and that, in a couple of years, there will even be a lack of qualified professionals in this discipline.

The FPB students have enjoyed the talk, which has been interactive and in which different students have raised their doubts. The talk was very interesting and motivating for everyone.

TRAINING DAY OF G'S ESPAÑA

Today, Monday, February 14, and as part of the "Motivating" initiative, Silvia Alcaraz, the head of Human Resources at the company G's España in Torre Pacheco, has visited the IES Sabina Mora to give a training session to 1st and 2nd year FP students. Basic.

In the first place, he introduced himself, that is, he told the students about his professional career until he reached the position he currently occupies, and then he told them what companies are looking for in their potential workers and what criteria they follow to select one or the other. They have been able to view several videos that have facilitated the understanding of the contents and the message that they wanted to convey. The FPB students have enjoyed the talk, which has been very interactive and in which different male and female students have participated.

The talk was very interesting and motivating for everyone.
